Hotel prices soar as Washington and Lee parents come to town

The prices at hotels in Lexington increased dramatically during Washington and Lee University’s Parents and Family Weekend. Parents complained that the hotels are too expensive. Some families booked their hotels up to a year in advance to find a reasonable price. John Gomes, the general manager of The Georges, said Parents Weekend and other special events are more expensive because that’s how hotels make most of their revenue for the year. The Georges is already sold out for Parents and Family Weekend next October.
