Rockbridge Regional Jail Superintendent Derek Almarode said an architecture firm is developing a plan to renovate and expand the facility. The plan will include the county sheriff’s office, which is located in the same building. Last year, a planned merger with Alleghany County’s jail fell apart because county officials concluded it would’ve been too expensive.
