Strong Lexington voter turnout driven by national and local issues

Voters took advantage of the warm weather and clear skies to cast their ballots for congressional and local candidates. Lexington residents also voted on a referendum to decide whether the school board will remain appointed or be elected. City council candidates stood 40 feet away from the precinct and addressed voters as they walked in. Nancy Sullivan, chair of the electoral board for the City of Lexington, said the turnout has been strong throughout the day.
