An extra traffic light is delaying Lexington drivers’ commute along West Nelson Street. The city of Lexington started a maintenance project on Woods Creek bridge that will reduce traffic in the area to a single lane for six months. Lexington’s city manager said the traffic change will add at most one or two minutes to the average commute. In the meantime, construction crews will replace concrete, drainage systems and other parts of the bridge so that it meets safety requirements outlined by the Virginia Department of Transportation.
