Rockbridge County residents can once again use 911 to alert emergency services following an outage earlier this week.

The line was damaged when remnants of tropical storm Ian passed through the county. The storm caused a tree on Vista Links Drive to fall on the line, according to Curtis Berry, director of the Rockbridge Regional Public Safety Communications Center.

County Administrator Spencer Suter said the line went from damaged to completely broken when a contractor cut it while trying to fix it. The outage began Monday afternoon and the service was completely restored by midday Tuesday.
