Christian Worth is hoping to turn this area’s long-held Republican seat blue in Virginia’s House of Delegates.

In a special election Dec. 18, Worth is running against Republican Ronnie Campbell, who chairs the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors. Both candidates are hoping to fill the seat vacated by Del. Ben Cline (R-24th Dist.), who in November was elected to represent the 6th Congressional District.

If Worth were to take the seat, the House of Delegates would be split down the middle, with 50 Republican representatives and 50 Democratic representatives. Worth said that such a representative dynamic is essential to a more balanced legislature in the upcoming session. She also called for expanding broadband access to rural communities and “responsible” gun ownership. She said her experience as a family lawyer will inform her advocacy in the House of Delegates if she is elected.

All regular polling stations will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Absentee ballot applications are due Dec. 11 and voters can absentee vote in person at their local registrar through Dec. 15.
