Two candidates are being considered to fill Jay Lewis’ remaining term on the Rockbridge County School Board.

Lewis was elected to the county’s board of supervisors in November.

The two names were announced Wednesday at a public meeting of the board. They are Pamela Whorley, the director of nursing at Heritage Hall, a healthcare facility, and Neil Whitmore, the associate director of admissions at Virginia Military Institute.

Whorley and Whitmore, the only two residents of Walkers Creek to offer their names for the seat, were interviewed in private by the four elected board members.

The board will make a choice between the two and announce it on Feb. 1.
