It was like the first day of school all over again at the new Waddell Elementary, which officially opened on Monday, Oct. 3. Parents snapped photos as faculty and staff welcomed students into the $13.5 million building. The Lexington City School Board had hoped to move students into the new building by Labor Day, but construction took longer than expected due to issues with contractors and poor weather conditions. Students now have access to updated technology, furniture, and facilities.
