Many math majors at Washington and Lee spend a lot of their time in Robinson Hall. What those students might not realize is that the namesake of that building, John Robinson, not only donated money and land to the school, but also slaves when he passed away in 1826. This has come more to light with W&L’s Special Working Group on the history of African-Americans at the school. The accompanying slideshow includes documents from Leyburn Library’s special collections. Photos by Barbara Bent.
