A water main at the corner of Thornhill and Country Club roads ruptured around 4 a.m. Thursday morning. John Smith, superintendent of the public works department, said about 50 to 60 people have been affected.

Water is backing up along the side of Thornhill Road. This pipe blew after workers fixed the original pipe Thursday morning.

A crew responded by 7 a.m. They fixed the first pipe by lunchtime, but since then, two more pipes have burst. Eyewitnesses said that water was bubbling out of the road. Some say they had water back in the afternoon, but others were still without.

Smith said the crew is doing their best to find the problems and fix them. The right lane of Thornhill road was closed where workers were trying to repair the pipes.
