Lexington was not spared the winter storm that pelted the Midwest and South this week. Residents shoveled and plowed nearly eight inches of snow that started falling Monday morning and lasted into the early hours of Tuesday. City employees worked around the clock in order to clear and de-ice city streets. But they face challenges tonight, because salt doesn’t work as well in temperatures lower than 20 degrees.
