President Obama’s proposal to make a community college education free would have a big impact at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, officials there say. And Virginia Military Institute administrators think a plan by Del. Ben Cline to let public college students in Virginia earn a degree for $16,000 could have an effect as well. Advocates say both proposals could ease financial pressure on Rockbridge area students.
