At the polls on Tuesday, some voters said they were aware of a tax-exemption amendment to the state constitution on the ballot, but others had never heard of it.  Even so, nearly nine in 10 Virginia voters approved the amendment, which gives property tax relief to the surviving spouses of soldiers killed in action. Results in the Rockbridge area mirrored the statewide percentage, with 87 percent voting in favor of the amendment.
