ELKTON (AP) — Police say remains found in Rockingham are believed to be those of a missing Page County woman.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office is telling media outlets that the remains were found Wednesday at the end of a road near Elkton, about 100 yards inside the Shenandoah National Park boundary.

Investigators believe the remains are those of 50-year-old Joy Schultz. She was last seen on Sept. 6.

Police on Wednesday charged Schultz’s stepson, 23-year-old George Zachary Schuppan, with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of murder. Her husband, 54-year-old George Harold Schultz, is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Both men are being held in the Page County Jail.
