Ongoing construction at Virginia Military Institute will force the closing of North Main Street from 6 p.m. to midnight tonight, Oct. 9.

Traffic between Massie Street and Diamond Street will be rerouted due to the relocation of the Knights of Pythias historic building.

“The city asks us all to be aware of this closure and to follow detour signs,” the Washington and Lee University Office of Communications and Public Affairs said in an email to students Wednesday afternoon.

According to VMI’s website, the building’s relocation will allow construction of VMI’s Indoor Training Facility to begin. This  is the first phase of VMI’s Physical Training Facilities construction project.
