Washington and Lee University students, alumni and parents gathered in Washington, D.C. last weekend to celebrate the memory of Kelsey Durkin, who was killed in a December car accident involving 10 other W&L students. Durkin’s friends ran and cheered in the “Rock ‘n’ Roll” half marathon and 5K in her honor. The race team “A Promise for Kelsey” raised almost $1,400 through T-shirt sales and a donation website for the Kelsey Durkin Memorial Fund. The fund benefits the W&L Shepherd Poverty Program, which Durkin was involved in as a volunteer trip leader.

Happy Carlock was among the runners and filed this report.
