Former Washington and Lee University football star Harrison Hudson is serving a sentence in the Rockbridge Regional Jail after he pleaded guilty to selling marijuana.

On Monday, Rockbridge County Circuit Judge Michael S. Irvine sentenced Hudson to two years in jail but suspended all but 30 days of the punishment.  Hudson won’t serve the full 30 days but will be released a few days early—on Christmas Eve, the Roanoke Times reported.

Hudson, 21, of Salem, was a standout on the W&L football team, with a school record 7.8 yards per carry last season. He also led the team in receiving yards and receptions.

Last year, the team made the NCAA Division III playoffs for the first time in five years.

A county grand jury indicted Hudson in February on two counts of distributing, or possessing with the intent to distribute, marijuana and on two counts of selling drugs on school property.

Under the plea agreement, the county prosecutor dropped the two counts of selling drugs on school property, according to court records.
