The Rockbridge County branch of Habitat for Humanity recently purchased 22 lots in the Greenhouse Village subdivision. Local Habitat Director of Development Sy Hughes says that it will build between 18 and 20 houses and use the rest of the space to build a playground, green space or a walking trail. Greenhouse Village has recently been developed. There are a few houses, and Grace Presbyterian Church is building a new church there. Joanna Wilhelm moved into one of the two Habitat houses in the Greenhouse Village Subdivision in June, and said she loves her new home. Each person receiving a house must put in 350 hours of sweat equity and pay about $450 a month on a no-interest loan for 30 years. Hughes says it will take about six years to complete the project.
