Washington and Lee University is denying claims made by a former student in a lawsuit that he was expelled after being falsely accused of sexual misconduct. The school filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, saying there isn’t enough evidence to proceed.
Students and officials at local universities are trying to interpret and comply with a new set of state regulations on hazing. The policy identifies nearly two dozen prohibited activities, several of them traditionally identified with VMI’s famed “rat line” for first-years.
Rockbridge County will provide water and sewer services for Washington and Lee University’s new third-year housing development, even though the university asked Lexington to provide the service. The decision by the county is not expected to postpone the estimated March 1 starting date for construction.
Both The Reeves Center and Watson Pavilion are open to the public while Lee Chapel is closed for renovations. The public is allowed to view artifacts normally on display in Lee Chapel.
