The Alabama conservative icon plans to announce Thursday that he’ll run for the GOP Senate nomination.

The Senate, including three Democrats, voted 54-45 for Barr, who served as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush from 1991 to 1993.

Sessions answered a range of questions including Russian meddling and a possible investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

The attorney general’s withdrawal followed demands from top Democrats and advice from Republicans.
