The four candidates running for Lexington City Council, as well as Rep. Ben Cline and his opponent Jennifer Lewis, appeared at a candidates’ forum Oct. 25. The forum was hosted by the Lexington-Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce and focused on housing, economic development and other policy topics. One candidate said “a woman’s place is in the home.”
The Lexington Fire Department is seeking tax-deductible contributions to fund its new $1.7 million ladder truck. The department is replacing its 24-year-old truck with one with a longer ladder and improved safety technology.
Some neighbors said they have reservations about plans to convert the early 1900s industrial building into apartments.
Dennis Ayers came in second place. Two incumbents were re-elected.
