Every week the bags are picked up by University Cleaners and then dropped off a few days later with clean clothes inside. Residents of Rockbridge County should be careful on the roads the next couple of days. The area is under a flood watch from Friday morning through Saturday evening. Two to five inches of rain are expected in the next two days. This isn’t the first time floods have threatened this week. On Tuesday, heavy rains also flooded small creeks and streams. Parts of the county even experienced road closures or partial blocking. By Polina Noskova Starting next week, Rockbridge County residents will no longer have to sort the tin, aluminum and plastic that they recycle. A new recycling strategy was approved Monday at the Rockbridge Board of Supervisors meeting along with four other parts of a new waste management plan. Under that plan: Recycled glass will now be held at the Rockbridge County landfill, located on the Buena Vista city line,  and reused as landfill utility road base. The local Drug Task Force swept through Rockbridge County on Wednesday, searching for many of the 56 people named in a recently unsealed series of indictments. Police officers included Washington and Lee University’s campus in that sweep, where they searched for one or two students from among that group of 56 suspects. Tracy Smith, clerk at the Rockbridge County Circuit Court, said there a total of 164 drug indictments involved. She said Thursday afternoon her office is processing the indictments.
