The bank of the Maury River near Glasgow is getting some badly needed shoring up. Workers under the supervision of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries are nearly finished with the two-month project. They expect it to correct almost 30 years of erosion that was threatening fish populations and harming the landowner’s farming operation. At the time, the nonprofit organization had only 125 members. Moore earned a $16,000 annual salary and was the chamber’s only paid employee. By Lindsay Cates Larry McKinley Clark, a Buena Vista pastor indicted in May on numerous charges of carnal knowledge and indecent liberties with multiple boys, is now scheduled to stand trial in Rockbridge Circuit Court Oct. 7. The trial had been set for July 28, but courts records show it was postponed after Clark’s attorney said prosecutors had delayed handing over a recording of police interviews with the alleged victims. Clark, 62, was indicted by a grand jury on 20 counts of carnal knowledge, 14 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and three counts of child cruelty. All the incidents…

By Carolyn Holtzman and Patrick McCarron The Washington and Lee University Student Health Center reported seeing 15 to 20 students in the last few days with stomach-related illness. Dr. Matthew Crance with the W&L clinic said symptoms they’ve seen include nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. He also said three of the 10 beds in the health clinic are currently occupied by students with the stomach illness. The cause of the stomach bug has yet to be determined.
