By Meaghan Latella The Presbyterian Church (USA) recommended a change in policy last year that would allow same-sex marriages to take place in its congregations in states where same-sex marriage is legal. The policy would go into effect in June if a majority of the 172 presbyteries – regional communities of churches — throughout the United States vote in favor of it. But several churches in the Shenandoah Valley say they might leave the denomination if the policy is adopted.

By  Cecelia Smith-Schoenwalder Natural Bridge Zoo owner Karl Mogensen is waiting for the zoo’s license to be reinstated by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. The zoo missed its 2015 opening day when the  department suspended its license last week. Mogensen says all the violations have been fixed, and the zoo will open after a follow-up inspection.

With the help of his K-9 partner, Blix, Rockbridge County K-9 Deputy Troy Wimer discovered what deputies called a mobile meth lab in the back of a car he had just pulled over for having tinted windows.
