To improve pedestrian safety and accessibility, the state is replacing the parking spots along North Main Street with sidewalk extensions and bike lanes. Lexington bikers say the lanes will improve safety and encourage more people to ride bikes downtown. Lexington’s planning director says the $4 million project was chosen by a state transportation funding program in 2018, but is just now getting built.
