The City of Lexington is holding public meetings on the proposed stormwater fee and another water rate increase so residents can ask questions of city staff and engineers. Residents can also get an estimate on the proposed fee, which varies by property. If passed by council, the stormwater fee will generate more than $440,000 to improve drainage and reduce street flooding. Some residents are unhappy because it follows another water rate hike earlier this year. If adopted after the first of the year, the fee will be phased in beginning next July.
