Buena Vista’s median home values rose 60% since 2020. The city used to have one of the highest property tax rates in Virginia, but a recent cut brought Buena Vista below the state average.

Mountain Gateway Community College eliminates athletic department

Mountain Gateway Community College shut down its athletic program after five years. President John Rainone says student interest was low, and the teams ran out of funding. The Mountain Gateway Educational Foundation paid for most of the athletic expenses. But Rainone said less than 20 students participated, and it cost too much money.
