The Virginia Military Institute’s women’s soccer team (2-12) rallied a comeback to beat its rival, The Citadel (3-5-5), in a home conference matchup on Sunday. This was their first conference win under Head Coach Chris Haught-Thompson. The Keydets were down 2-0 at the half, heads hanging. The players said assistant coach Abby Erlemeier motivated them at the half to finish the game strong. Redshirt Sophomore Sedona Dancu scored a goal in the first five minutes of the half. She was followed by sophomore Riley Boucher, who scored the final two goals that put VMI on top. Haught-Thompson said he hopes his team will carry the momentum from the upset into the final few games of their season and the Southern Conference Tournament.
