An electrical fire significantly damaged a vacant house on Borden Road Tuesday night, leaving one firefighter with minor injuries.
Lexington firefighters, along with three other local departments, arrived at 543 Borden Road at about 10:15 p.m. Lexington Fire Department Chief Ty Dickerson said the fire was extinguished in 30 minutes, but firefighters remained on the scene until 2 a.m. to make sure all hot spots were put out.
One firefighter from Buena Vista was taken to the hospital after his foot and leg went through a hole in the floor. He was released Wednesday morning after suffering a pulled muscle.
Firefighters sifted through the debris and determined faulty electrical wiring caused the blaze. The house was not insured and had been vacant for about 30 years.
