Four incumbents and one new candidate are still in the race for Buena Vista School Board as of 9:30 p.m. tonight.
Lisa Kerr, Roy Mohler, John Rice, and John Roberts are all running for re-election. Kerr is leading the race with 24.7 percent of the vote and 1,350 votes total. Rice is a close second with 21.3 percent of the vote. That is 1,166 votes.
Candidate Charles Jolley is new to the race for BV School Board. He has 12.8 percent of the vote so far, or 700 votes.
Jolley would like to see the students in Buena Vista classrooms be taken care of a little bit better. He believes the administrators need to be more involved on campus.
The other four candidates weren’t available to comment.
Four out of five precincts have reported so far and around 5,470 votes are in. Fifty of them are write-in votes.
