Marijuana-related arrests in Virginia reached a 20-year high in 2018 and Rockbridge County is one of the leading enforcers. “We have zero tolerance when it comes to drugs in this community,” said Captain Tony McFaddin of the Rockbridge County Sherriff’s office. But, in a recent poll from the University of Mary Washington, the majority of respondents support the legalization of marijuana—a large increase since 2017. The commonwealth’s attorney general has spoken out in favor of decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana, but the future of legal recreational marijuana in Virginia is unclear.
