LEXINGTON, Va. — Jennarae Goodbar was killed Saturday after chasing her dog onto Route 60 and being struck by a vehicle.
Police say the 12-year-old was training her dog, Cash, when the dog ran into the road. She chased after him and both died at the scene.
Goodbar attended Maury River Middle School and was a “sweet, energetic, dog loving, hunting loving little girl,” according to the GoFundMe page set up by friends of the family. The fundraiser has raised over $25,000 for funeral expenses, exceeding its $15,000 goal and still climbing.
Maury River Middle School said on its Facebook page that the school was holding strong with the support from the community.
