Life without wheels a challenge for Rockbridge County residents

The U.S. Department of Agriculture designates Rockbridge County as “low access to transportation” because many people do not own cars. Lexington resident Joan Manley started a door-to-door program, Rockbridge Area Transportation System, out of frustration with a lack of options for older and disabled residents. Other people use the Maury River Express bus service, Uber and E’S-Y Rider taxi to get to work and run errands.
