Making the walk to Lylburn Downing safer

Lylburn Downing Middle School recently applied for a grant from the Virginia Department of Transportation as part of the Safe Routes to School program. If approved, the grant will allow the school to improve its crosswalk and sidewalk networks. Last spring, the school partnered with city officials and the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission to identify the potential safety improvements. However, even if the grant is approved, students won’t see any changes for a while.
