The suspect in the armed robbery of a Lexington bank is still on the loose. The Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Department said the suspect entered College Square Cornerstone Bank Monday afternoon wearing a mask and demanded all the money the bank had on hand.
The authorities believe the man left the bank on foot with around $10,000 and escaped into the woods behind the bank. The Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation.
“We are in the infancy stages of the investigation,” Chief Deputy Tony McFaddin of the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Department said. “We are letting the investigators do their part with their forensic evidence and other evidence they have been collecting inside the bank.”
The suspect is a bald, white male, thought to be five feet seven inches tall. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a blue plaid shirt, a hat and sunglasses.
