Buena Vista’s median home values rose 60% since 2020. The city used to have one of the highest property tax rates in Virginia, but a recent cut brought Buena Vista below the state average.

Striking a chord with students

Waddell Elementary School has celebrated “Music in our Schools” month this March by showing off the talent that its students have. The students have put on several concerts, both at the school itself and at the Lexington School Board’s monthly meeting. One of their final performances was a piano and strings recital.
Waddell also partnered with Lime Kiln Theater and Fine Arts in Rockbridge to show students what classic bluegrass music sounds like, with the help of local musicians, and to recognize its long history in the Shenandoah Valley.
