Veterans in Rockbridge County have no shortage of honors and recognition for their service. Sometimes, though, they need a little more than that. Some local veterans need to use the local Food Pantry or need financial aid for rent and utilities; some are even homeless. The Veterans Transport Group is one local organization that is working to provide support for struggling veterans. Last fall, the group hosted 17 vendors, ranging from employment agencies to counseling services, for a Veterans Benefits Fair. Mickey Watson, who founded the Veterans Transport Group, says that the group’s goal is to show veterans what services are available to them.
