The wait is finally over. Waddell Elementary School is through with construction, and the celebration has begun.
A ribbon cutting ceremony Friday marked the official opening of the newly-renovated Waddell. The school opened its door to excited students on Oct. 3.
Lexington City Council and members of the School Board were present. Speakers included Waddell Principal Tim Martino, Lexington Superintendent Scott Jeffries and Mayor Mimi Elrod.
Lylburn Downing Middle School band was there to play a few songs to celebrate the occasion. The ceremony was an opportunity to thank everyone in the community and those involved in making the dream for a new elementary school a reality.
