First Baptist Church in Lexington held a second memorial service on Sunday, Nov. 15, commemorating the lives lost in the Charleston, S.C., shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on June 17. Dylann Roof, a man espousing white supremacy and displaying Confederate symbols on his Facebook page, shot and killed nine people in the historically black church. Local pastors and community members have not wavered in their support of the Charleston church and intend to continue to come together.
