BARC Electric Cooperative is hoping to install a community-shared solar panel array on the old Highland Belle School in Kerrs Creek. BARC says local residents could subscribe to energy from the panels at a fixed rate, and over time save money on electric bills. BARC is hoping a $500,000 grant it received from Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office on Monday will push the county to approve its plans, despite some neighbors’ concerns.
