A veteran elementary school teacher and administrator from Loudoun County will become Waddell Elementary School’s next principal early in January.
Lexington’s School Board announced that Timothy J. Martino will succeed Lisa Clark, who resigned at the beginning of the school year in August to become principal of Kling Elementary in Buena Vista.
According to his resume, Martino has worked in the Loudoun County Public School system in northern Virginia for 17 years. He started his career in education as a fourth-grade teacher at Lovettsville Elementary School in 1997. After two years, he became a second- and fourth-grade teacher at Cedar Lane Elementary from 1999 to 2002.
Martino then served as charter assistant principal at Forest Grove Elementary from July 2002 to January 2007. That same month he became principal at Sully Elementary, where he remained for five years.
Martino became charter principal at Frederick Douglass Elementary in January 2012.
Lylburn Downing Middle School Principal Scott Jefferies has been serving as Waddell’s interim principal since Clark’s departure.
Martino is scheduled to start at Waddell Jan. 5.
