Recent events such as the Parelli Horsemanship Program help bring revenue to the Virginia Horse Center, which is still struggling to pay off its debt since the Virginia Horse Center Foundation bought the center in 2007. The Parelli Program taught local horse owners how to train and ride their horses according to the horse’s personality. More than 1,300 people attended the event, raising $35,000 for the Horse Center. The center has also asked the County Board of Supervisors to impose a 1 percent increase in the county’s occupancy tax.
