Fresh food fanatics are eagerly awaiting the April 17 opening of the Lexington Farmers Market. The market will be open every Wednesday until Thanksgiving from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the McClure’s parking lot in downtown Lexington. Mitch Wapner, who organizes the farmers market, encourages Rockbridge area residents to visit the market to support local growers and stimulate the Lexington economy. Wapner says the food is fresher, tastes better and is often organic. Foodies can stock up on locally grown fruits and vegetables, as well as honey, baked goods and a variety of jams.
