Many horses face abandonment, euthanasia or slaughter after retiring from the racing world.  But a local horse show is inspiring riders around the country to adopt retired race horses.  Last weekend, the Virginia Horse Center hosted the tri-annual Thoroughbred Celebration Horse Show, which gives rescued thoroughbreds and other ex-race horses a second chance at glory.  Its popularity in Lexington has helped similar shows crop up all over the United States, says off-the-track horse trainer Billie Rae Croll.
