Buena Vista City Schools began this academic year without a superintendent. Rebecca Gates left her position in August, and the school board appointed Mary Holm to serve the interim position. For the past six years, Holm has served as the director of instruction, and this year she will fill both roles. School Board Chairman Darryl Knick says it will be a difficult task, but officials are confident this year will run smoothly.
