Although it has been open less than two years, Washington and Lee University’s Hillel House is already attracting notable speakers and community involvement. Last week, Congressman Bob Goodlatte spoke there about Israel and the Middle East. Goodlatte, a graduate of W&L’s School of Law, represents Virginia’s Sixth District, which includes Lexington. Hillel House, on West Washington Street, was built entirely by private donations to support Jewish students. Hillel Director Brett Schwartz expects a crowd of both students and community residents at its Seder meal during Passover next month.
