Buena Vista’s median home values rose 60% since 2020. The city used to have one of the highest property tax rates in Virginia, but a recent cut brought Buena Vista below the state average.

Affordable housing development breaks ground

Partners of the Thompson’s Knoll project, a plan to build 24 affordable, environmentally efficient homes, broke ground Monday on the 4.4 acre project on North Lewis Street. The new homes will be available to low- and middle-income families. Housing counselor Michael Lonergan says move-in is about a year away.
