The Rockbridge Area Relief Association recently took $40,000 out of its reserves to buy enough food to service the community. RARA President Chip Honsinger said the group had to tap the reserves because the U.S. Department of Agriculture stopped providing food and the prices increased. RARA’s Food Pantry recently moved to a new location in the former Lexington rescue squad building on Spotswood Drive. Honsinger said the group outgrew its old building and needed the extra space. It is also using a new form of self-service pick-up.
