Rockbridge cops teach citizens about police work

By Olivia Hewitt

Over the course of 10 weeks, 16 Rockbridge County citizens learned about police work. Buena Vista Police Chief Keith Hartman said the program was so successful that he now plans to hold two sessions every year. Classes cover a range of subjects such as K9 units, forensics, firearms and drug enforcement. Some of the March 20 graduates say the program has fostered a positive relationship between citizens and police force.
