Rockbridge health center may face federal funding cuts

By Katrina Lewis

In 2015, Congress extended the Community Health Center Fund to give health centers continued mandatory funding of $3.6 billion annually for the next two fiscal years. The National Association of Community Health Centers says centers will see a cutback in program funding of up to 70 percent if Congress fails to continue a similar program. The Rockbridge Area Health Center is a private nonprofit that uses federal grants to help fund services for low-income and medically underserved clients. The center also raises money through donations and fundraisers like last Saturday’s annual Bull and Oyster Fest.
